DO YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE A SPIRIT GUIDE?
Well Arthur Jacobson, the principal character in my new book "The Grantor" has reason to believe he might have one. You see, after eighteen months of personal tragedies ending with the death of his first wife, Jean, in a terrible automobile accident Arthur develops what the psychiatrists called a "grief driven depression." So acting on the advice of his psychiatrist Arthur travels to the southwest in search of a suitable city in which to locate himself and his foundation.
While in Tucson, Arizona, a city which he had just about decided was the best choice, he was spending nights at a local hotel. On a Sunday evening while reading a book of poetry he came across Kipling’s "The Explorer" which contained these lines:
"Something hidden. Go and find it. Go and look behind the ranges –
something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you. Go!"
Being a lover of mountains he sat and ruminated on these lines and fell asleep while doing so. While asleep he dreamed. He dreamed of driving among the Santa Catalinas north of Tucson and found a road leading up and over the front range. At a pass near the summit of the front range he saw a building high on the ridge to his right and above him and a road leading up to it. He drove up this road, parked his car and knocked at the massive door of the building. A warm mellifluous voice responded to his knock and welcomed him by name and told him that someone inside was expecting him. The voice further told him to come inside, take a seat and his guide would join him shortly.
Having told no one of where he would be driving and wondering how anyone in this wilderness could know his name, he, nonetheless, followed the unseen voice’s instructions and entered the building. He then took a seat and awaited the coming of whoever this "guide" was. While waiting he was deep in thought about these strange happenings. So he was taken by surprise when a tall, pleasant appearing man greeted him by name.
The man told him that in Arthur’s language that his name was Paul and that he had been and was Arthur’s spirit guide throughout Arthur’s past three and current incarnations. He said further that he had arranged this unusual meeting in order to give Arthur two pieces of information which should help Arthur overcome his depression.
The first was that Arthur and Jean would have an opportunity to meet again, to fall in love again and to marry two incarnations hence. The second was that to complete the cure that his psychiatrist had set up for him he would need to meet a woman who he could love without any reservations. Paul told Arthur that the very woman who he would need to meet lived in Tucson and that since he knew the woman’s guide it would be an easy matter when the time was right for the two guides to arrange for Paul and this woman to meet.
This news did much to alleviate Arthur’s depression and Paul said that since he had carried out his mission, it was time for Arthur to return to Tucson. But before Arthur left, Paul told him that without knowing it he had traveled the incredible distance of 800 light years to reach the planet where this meeting took place. Further, Arthur would not be aware of when he would cross this great distance on his return to Tucson.
Arthur then bid his guide a thankful goodbye and started the drive home. As Paul had said, Arthur was unaware of when he made this vast crossing until he caught his first sight of the Santa Rita mountains on the southern side of Tucson. The next thing Arthur was aware of was a loud TV set in the suite next to his which woke him up from his sleep. When he checked the time, it was 2:15 A.M. and when he last checked his watch before falling asleep it was 10:35 P.M.
Before getting up and to bed he lay in his reclining chair wondering about the dream most of the details he had already forgotten as Paul had told him he would. But he remembered Paul and Paul’s two predictions which had done much to relieve his depression. Had he had a bona fide religious experience or was it all a product of his fertile imagination? He would never really know but those two predictions had started Arthur on the road to a complete cure of his grief driven depression. And he would never forget Paul – real or imaginary.
The novel from which this sample text is taken tells of several ways in which a prosperous family could use part of their wealth to help the less fortunate in their community and various worthy causes. The book also chronicles the development of love between Arthur and both of his wives. To order your copy send your check or money order for $19.99 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling to Andrew Swanson, 8335 E.
